P38 relic

Description

This Pistol was found  during a detecting trip in the former Eastern Front of the second World War. This incredible and iconic relic was found right besides a large German dugout or bunker. This bunker formed part of the defense of the Kurland Kessel (Courland Pocket) during early 1945. This Luger was found on positions that were manned by soldiers of the 11th SS Volunteer Panzergrenadier Division ‘Nordland’. This division was largely made up of Norwegian and Danish men. Through thorough research we were able to pinpoint which regiment was positioned where we found the P38. It turns out II Regiment ‘Danmark’ was holding these positions. It is very likely this P38 belonged to a Danish SS volunteer, perhaps even an officer.
